Occupier's liability
The Occupiers Liability Act 1957 provides that the occupier of premises is under a duty to take such care as, in all the circumstances of the case is reasonable, to see ensure the safety of any visitor using the premises for the purpose for which he is invited or permitted by the occupier to be there.
These accidents differ significantly from many other accident types in that the conditions that caused the injury can usually be
easily and quickly cleaned up or repaired. If you have been injured in an incident, it is critical to gather evidence including:

should be taken immediately following the accident.
- Photographs of the location of the slipping and tripping accident should be taken as soon
as possible to capture the condition at the time of the fall.
- Photograph mats, rugs, or slip prevention fabrics at the location and if there are non take photographs of potential locations for them.
- Photograph any warning signs that might be in the area of the accident.
- Photograph any visible injury including cuts and bruises immediately and later if the bruising develops.
Witness Statements
- Write down
the name, address and telephone number of any witness or potential witness.
Physical
Evidence
- It is very important that you keep the shoes that you were wearing at the time of the accident. Place them inside a sealed plastic bag without cleaning them.
- Retain all articles of clothing that you were wearing at the time of the
accident without cleaning or washing them.
- If applicable place an entry into the accident book.
