UK CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT
CLAIMS ADVICE

We are a network of personal injury solicitors that provides legal advice for construction accident claims at no cost and works on a completely risk free no win no fee basis. You do not have to fund or finance your claim in any respect and you do not have to pay for any expenses as the claim proceeds. Compensation is paid in full with no deductions and win or lose there is no charge. If you submit your details an experienced advocate who is a member of The Law Society Panel of personal injury experts will respond and give free advice without obligation on what steps you should take to protect your legal rights. If after talking to us you decide not to take matters further you are under no obligation to do so and you will not be charged anything at all.

UK personal injury statistics show that workers in this industry are six times more likely to be involved in a fatality than in any other industry. Two people are killed every week in incidents across the range from large construction sites to individuals building homes for themselves and almost all of the incidents were foreseeable and preventable if sensible safety precautions had been taken.

These deaths account for one third of all workplace deaths in the UK with three quarters of all injuries resulting from falls from height, collisions with building site vehicles or falling objects. We are able to deal with a wide range of compensation claims arising from negligence including incidents involving cranes, forklift trucks and dumpers and those arising from the use of scaffolding, ladders and machinery on bulding sites.

Employers have a legal duty to minimise the risk of injury by taking reasonable care for the health and safety of an employee. An employer is required to provide competent co-workers, adequate materials and equipment and a safe system of work with proper training and supervision. Various Acts impose rigidly enforced duties to attempt to reduce the rate of construction accident injuries which require employers to provide:

  • physical prevention of falls through fragile materials
  • competent design and supervision for erection of scaffolding
  • a safe place of work with safe access
  • protection from falls over 2m
  • equipment that will arrest falls
  • training on safe use of ladders
  • protection from falling materials or objects
  • safe storage for materials and equipment

To protect your legal right to compensation following an injury you should;

  • enter the full details in the employer’s accident book as soon as possible. Try to enter the details yourself or insist on seeing any entry as it is being made
  • obtain and record the name address and telephone number of any witnesses to the building site accident
  • take photographs of the location.
  • write down all of the details as soon as possible including all events leading up to it
  • take photographs of the building, machinery, plant or vehicles involved
  • take photographs of any visible injury
  • ensure that you visit your GP to record your injury and symptoms
